Here is some of what is going on these days: Customers really like my dreadnaughts and I'm building two right now for Naperville Music.
The guitar on the left features an Adirondak spruce top with forward shifted (1934 pattern) hand-shaped Adirondak spruce bracing, and pre-2003 harvest Madagascar rosewood side and back. This guitar is going to be a cannon! The top rings like a bell and the back and sides resonate on par with well-played old vintage Martins. The guitar also features herringbone purfling, a 1-3/4" wide mahogany neck with white mother of pearl diamond-shaped inlays on a Maccassar ebony fretboard and white mother of pearl "torch" style headstock inlay, and nickel plated Waverly tuners. The guitar will also include a premium Ameritage "Gold Series" hard-shell case with humidity control.
The guitar on the right features an Adirondak spruce top with contemporary hand-shaped aged Alaskan Sitka spruce bracing, and Wenge which is an alternative African tropical hardwood with excellent tonal qualities. The guitar also features herringbone purfling, an extra wide 1-13/16" wide mahogany neck with mother of pearl dot inlays on a Wenge bound Maccassar ebony fretboard and Grover Sta-Tite open back tuners. The guitar will also include an excellent Ameritage "Silver Series" hard-shell case.
The guitars will be painted soon and should be available for sale in April. Email me at RobertsLuthiery@comcast.net for details.
